Our mission with South Yorkshire

Working with South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA), we are able to provide funded construction training in 5 in-demand trades to help unlock the potential of the people and businesses in South Yorkshire. Within the South Yorkshire region, we are providing training in LVL 3 Site Supervision, LVL 3 Contracts & Project Management, LVL 3 Domestic Energy Assessment, LVL 5 Retrofit Co-ordination & Management and LVL 5 Construction Site Management. Construction Helpline & SYMCA have the shared goal of supporting learners through our funded training and upskilling them to find, remain or progress in their careers.

This funded training has been created for individuals who currently working as construction trades team leaders, assistant supervisors, supervisors on SSSTS certification seeking to upskill onto a Level 3 NVQ supervision qualification and gain a Gold CSCS Supervisory card.

This funded training allows you flexibility to train online during weekday evenings & weekends (Monday - Thursday + every second Saturday). With this training being delivered remotely, it allows you to login via video conferencing software like zoom or Microsoft teams to a live tutor from home over the 8 week program.

What is included in this training?
  • Level 1 H&S in a construction environment course prep and assessment (including re-sit)
  • CITB Test
  • CSCS Card x 2 prior to completion of NVQ and on completion of NVQ Level 3
  • Registration onto a NOCN NVQ Level 3 in Occupational Work Supervision
To be eligible for this training, learners are required to:
  • Live within the South Yorkshire region and be 19+ years old
  • Have experience in the construction either up to a level 2 trade qualification or with equivalent experience and with extra responsibilities such as acting as a team leader, supporting a qualified supervisor or a site manager or currently holding an SSSTS certificate and are looking to qualify for a Gold CSCS Supervisors card.

This funded training has been created for learners looking to upskill their knowledge and experience necessary to become a Contracts Supervisor within the construction sector. Completion of this training will involve gaining a Level 3 NVQ qualification and gain a Gold CSCS Supervisory card.

This funded training allows you flexibility to train online during weekday evenings & weekends (Monday - Thursday + every second Saturday). With this training being delivered remotely, it allows you to login via video conferencing software like zoom or Microsoft teams to a live tutor from home over the 8 week program.

What is included in this training?
  • Course certificate
  • CSCS Card x 2 prior to completion of NVQ and on completion of NVQ Level 3
  • Registration onto a NOCN NVQ Level 3 in Construction Contracting Operations
To be eligible for this training, learners are required to:
  • Live within the South Yorkshire region and be 19+ years old
  • Have experience in the construction up to a level 2 trade qualification or with equivalent experience.

This funded training in Level 3 Domestic Energy Assessing enables learners to recognise their knowledge for individuals who wish to work as a qualified, accredited Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) within the UK. This online training supports the learner to attain fundamental and transferable practical skills with the associated underpinning knowledge needed to be an energy assessor.

This funded training allows you flexibility to train online during weekday evenings (Monday - Friday) & Saturdays. With this training being delivered remotely, it allows you to login via video conferencing software like zoom or Microsoft teams to a live tutor from home over the 8 week Bootcamp.

To be eligible for this Level 3 Domestic Energy Assessor Bootcamp, learners are required to:​
  • Live within the South Yorkshire region and be 19+ years old.
What is included in this training qualification:
  • Level 3 City & Guilds qualification
  • Course certificate

This training has been designed for construction professionals who are currently working as either construction managers, site managers on SMSTS certification and Gold CSCS card supervisors looking to progress onto a level 5 NVQ qualification.

Our funded training courses gives you more flexibility to train online during weekday evenings (Monday-Friday) and Saturdays. With this training being delivered remotely, it allows you to login via video conferencing software like zoom or Microsoft teams to a live tutor from home over the 8 week program.

What is included in this training?
  • Level 1 H&S in a construction environment course prep and assessment (including re-sit)

  • Registration onto a NOCN NVQ Level 5 in Construction Site Management
To qualify for this level 5 Construction Site Management course, learners are required to:​
  • Live within the South Yorkshire region and be 19+ years old.
  • Have experience in the construction as either a construction projects manager, a level 3 supervisor or technical qualification, via SMSTS certificate or with equivalent experience and would like to qualify for a Black CSCS Mangers Card.

This funded training in Level 5 Retrofit Co-ordination & Management supports learners to upskill their knowledge and experience necessary to become a Retrofit manager/co-ordinator within the construction sector.

This funded training allows you flexibility to train online during weekday evenings (Monday - Friday) & Saturdays. With this training being delivered remotely, it allows you to login via video conferencing software like zoom or Microsoft teams to a live tutor from home over the 8 week program.

What is included in this training?​
  • NVQ certificate
  • CSCS Black Card on completion of NVQ 5​
  • Registration onto a NOCN NVQ Level 5 in Retrofit Co-ordination & Management
To qualify for the level 5 Retrofit Co-ordination & Management, learners are required to:​​
  • Live within the South Yorkshire region and be 19+ years old​.
  • Have experience in construction either up to a level 2 trade qualification or with equivalent experience and with extra responsibilities such as acting as a team leader, supporting a qualified supervisor or a site manager.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Although this online training is specific to South Yorkshire, if you live in surrounding regions such as Leeds, Huddersfield and Manchester and can commute to South Yorkshire, you may be eligible.

You will start your NVQ as close to midway through the funded training as soon as possible (dependent on the pace of the group).

Our start dates vary dependent on location and trade, once you have passed eligibility from our team, you will be informed on the next funded training start date.

Other than our funded training being free for all learners, they teach you how to interpret academically written knowledge questions to maximise your chances of passing your NVQ in as short a time frame as possible, while developing your analytical skills.
